What are your thoughts on kids going on diets?
If you were to put your child on a diet, how would you do it?
Do you think we should leave it up to an app to make nutrition choices for our kids?
Weight Watchers has put out a new app specifically for kids and, in this episode, my guest and I explore the topic of kids and diets and whether it’s something parents should be doing.
Guest Katherine Hake has a dual degree in Dietetics and Nutrition, Fitness and Health from Purdue University, and is also a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, a Certified Personal Trainer, a Beachbody LIVE Master Trainer, and the host of the amazing podcast, Fit Friends Happy Hour.
Katherine had previously reached out to her following to ask them if they were put on diets by their parents when they were younger and, if so, if it still affects them today. The majority of women who responded saying they were put on diets as kids now struggle with body-image issues today.
Many also said, when they were kids, they never thought anything about their weight until it was addressed by their parents.
How can we as parents ensure our kids are a healthy weight without putting them on diets? How can we educate and empower our kids to make nutritious choices, listen to their bodies and have a healthy relationship with food and their bodies, without a diet?
Listen to the full episode to hear our opinion on kids, diets and weight loss.
